just got a thick enough band to help assist my pull ups. Should i be training for it everyday or just a set few days? I can do shrugs on my own and that's it. I want to be able to do my own pull ups before spring gets here!

Abilotta2 I cannot do pull ups myself but I do like using the assisted machine to help me warm up my back. Just like you I plan on getting at least 5 by spring.
My plan is to try strengthing my forearms, they do play a part. My hand grip, by holding myself up for as long as I can. Try to progress this each week. Keep doing my assisted pull ups. If I get 20 I drop the pin, and go again. I will be doing something each day to get my goal. I may not always record it. Just like dips, it took me a few I can do them I just choose to use the assisted and not mess up my shoulders!!

LostNatureGirl I usually do them every morning, but I actually think it might be better to do them 2/3 times a week. It’s also really good to work on scapular pulls and eccentrics to help build strength without the band.

AelwxKraetorDraNator I'm convinced that negative pull ups will help you get there better, I'd do two days of pull ups a week, then three and after that you should be able to squeeze them into your routine somewhere, you'll be strong enough
